Do I need a battery?

This is one of the most common questions we get asked and the answer is, it depends.

Battery storage can be very beneficial for a system that generates more than it uses. We try to specify systems to meet the exact energy usage of you to prevent the need for a battery storage system. This is for two main reasons, they are expensive to install. A battery can add £2,000 to the cost of your system which compared to installing an extra 4 panels costing roughly £800 can be quite the difference. The other reason they might not be suitable for you is if the battery is not charged and discharged (cycled) correctly this can cause issues internally and also void your warranty.

On the other hand battery’s can be beneficial if the majority of your energy usage is at night. The Solar system will generate through the day charging your batteries and then discharging when you are home at night.
